JOEL McNEELY (Music) is a composer and conductor for motion pictures and television and lives in the Los Angeles area.

His recent film credits include The Avengers, Soldier and Air Force One, for which he provided additional music. Other feature credits include Wild America, Terminal Velocity, Radioland Murders, Iron Will and Squanto: A Warrior’s Tale.

In 1993, Joel received the Emmy Award for Best Original Composition for his score for the television series The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles.

As a conductor, Joel has led the Royal Scottish National Orchestra in many recordings of classic film scores. He won the first Grammophone Magazine Film Music Award for his recording of Bernard Herrmann’s score for Vertigo. He has also conducted the London Symphony, the Seattle Symphony (with whom he recorded Herrmann’s score for Fahrenheit 451), the San Francisco Symphony, the National Philharmonic Orchestra, the Munich Philharmonic, the London Philharmonic and the Western Australian Symphony Orchestra.

Joel McNeely started his musical education at the Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan and the University of Miami before concluding his formal education with a graduate degree from the Eastman School of Music in New York. His other recordings include "Shadows Of The Empire" and "Hollywood ’95," a compilation of the year’s best film scores, with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra.
